Karren brings together behavioural science, HumanAnimal connection and wellbeing to support both ends of the lead.
Karren Brooks is the founder of Heads ’n’ Tails. She brings more than twenty years of experience across behaviour, coaching, leadership, wellbeing, communication and human development — along with a lifelong curiosity about what sits beneath the way we behave.
A behaviourist by background, Karren has studied behavioural science and spent many years helping people understand the drivers behind their actions, responses and relationships. Her work has been shaped through her work with the London Leadership Centre, and she is also the founder of Whitespace, where she supports people to think, grow and lead with greater clarity and self-awareness.
With Heads ’n’ Tails, Karren brings that depth of behavioural understanding into the animal world. Her focus is the HumanAnimal connection: how animals affect our emotional lives, how our own state affects them, and how awareness, training and wellbeing can support both.
Drawing on behavioural science, health and wellness, emotional awareness, communication, leadership and coaching, she has built Heads ’n’ Tails as a place where behaviour, training, wellness, connection, community and nutrition-informed wellbeing come together — for people and the animals they love.

Practical, friendly dog training that helps dogs and owners learn together.
Tim — Tim the Trainer — is our training specialist, and dog training is exactly where he likes to be. Practical, patient and easy to get along with, Tim has a real knack for helping dogs and their owners learn together, at a pace that works for both.
His sessions are all about building good habits and quiet confidence — for the dog and the human. From the basics of recall and lead work to settling a lively pup or sharpening up everyday manners, Tim keeps things clear, encouraging and genuinely enjoyable.
As the community grows, so will Tim’s offer: puppy classes, workshops, one-to-one training, group classes, recall, lead work, confidence-building, tricks, scent work and agility-style sessions. Whatever stage you’re at, he’ll meet you there.
If you want training that’s hands-on, friendly and grounded in real life with real dogs, Tim is the person to speak to.

Walking, talking and connection — Clare’s office is the great outdoors.
Clare’s office is the great outdoors.
Her work is about walking, talking and connection — the kind of conversations that come more easily side by side, with fresh air, open space and a dog or two for company. Through walking conversations, Clare offers a gentle, grounded way to find confidence, clarity and a little breathing room.
There’s something about moving, talking and being in nature that helps things settle. Clare brings companionship, a listening ear and a real sense of community for anyone navigating change, challenge or transition.
Her own bond with Sabre is part of her story. It’s taught her, first-hand, how animals can steady us, draw us out and walk alongside us through life’s harder stretches — and that understanding sits at the heart of what she offers.
Clare’s mentoring is part of the wider Heads ’n’ Tails HumanAnimal connection and community wellbeing offer: human, sincere and quietly powerful.
Alongside training and mentoring, Heads ’n’ Tails offers gentle, complementary wellbeing support for animals. These are calm, settling experiences designed to sit comfortably beside everything else we do — an additional option for owners looking to bring a little more ease and relaxation into their animal’s world.
Gentle Animal Reiki — calm, complementary wellbeing support for your animal.
Sue Mitchell is our Animal Reiki practitioner. She offers a calm, gentle space for animals to relax and settle — a quiet, unhurried form of complementary wellbeing support.
Animal Reiki is a soft, non-invasive practice, and Sue’s focus is simply on creating the conditions for calm: a settled animal, a peaceful moment, a sense of ease. It’s an additional wellbeing option within Heads ’n’ Tails, offered with patience and care.
If you’d like to explore a relaxing, complementary experience for your animal, Sue would be glad to help.
Heads ’n’ Tails is growing — and so is our wider health and wellness offer for humans and animals.
In time, this will include nutrition-informed guidance and trusted nutrition experts and practitioners, brought into the community as it develops. Karren can also speak into nutrition-informed wellbeing as part of her broader approach to health, behaviour and everyday wellness.
Our aim is simple: to support healthier, happier lives at both ends of the lead, with sensible, grounded guidance you can trust. This is an area we’re building thoughtfully, and we look forward to sharing more as the right people and partnerships come on board.
Heads ’n’ Tails is a community — and you’re welcome in it.
Whether you’re looking for dog training, behaviour support, a walking conversation, a calmer animal, workshops, or simply a better understanding of the bond you share with your animal, there’s a place for you here.
